Computer-based IELTS (also called computer-delivered IELTS or CD-IELTS) is the same test as paper-based IELTS, taken on a computer at an official centre: identical questions, timing and band scores. In Bangladesh most Academic candidates now sit it on the Inspera platform — a white screen with a 40-question navigation bar, a countdown timer, highlighting, a live word count, and Listening audio that plays once. Nothing about the assessment changes. Listening has four parts and 40 questions, Reading has three passages and 40 questions in 60 minutes, Writing has two tasks in 60 minutes, and Speaking is still a face-to-face interview with a human examiner. Band 7 in Academic Reading and in Listening is still 30 correct answers out of 40.
What changes is the medium. You type answers instead of writing them, you highlight on screen instead of underlining on paper, and the Listening paper ends with two minutes to check your answers instead of ten minutes to transfer them — there is nothing to transfer.

- A row of 40 question numbers along the bottom. Click any number to jump; answered questions fill in, flagged ones turn red.
- A timer at the top that turns red at five minutes and again at two.
- Highlighting in Reading: select text, right-click, Highlight. It stays for the whole passage.
- A live word count in Writing. It counts every word, including a, the and of.
- No Ctrl+F, no copy-paste, no rewind. The Listening audio plays once. Notes go on the paper and pencil the centre gives you.

- Arrive at least 30 minutes early with the passport you registered with. Photo and fingerprint at check-in.
- Phone, watch and bag go in a locker. Only the passport goes in with you.

- Speaking is a separate 11 to 14 minute interview with an examiner, on the same day or another day.

Neither. The questions, timing and marking are identical, so the band you get depends on your English, not the medium. Candidates who type quickly and are used to reading on a screen often prefer the computer; the only real risk is sitting it without ever having practised on a similar interface.
