IELTS Listening-এ ৪টি অংশ, ৪০টি প্রশ্ন, আর অডিও একবারই চলে — ফিরিয়ে শোনা যায় না। ব্যান্ড ৭-এর জন্য ৪০-এ ৩০টি সঠিক লাগে। এখানে সবচেয়ে বেশি নম্বর যায় বানান আর একবচন-বহুবচনের ভুলে, বুঝতে না পারার কারণে নয়।

IELTS Listening has 4 sections and 40 questions, and the audio plays once — there is no rewind, in the paper test or on computer. Band 7 needs 30 out of 40. More marks are lost here to spelling and singular/plural errors than to not understanding what was said.

Band by band: what actually changes

Each step below is the specific thing standing between one band and the next. They are cumulative — the band 7 work does not help while the band 6 problem is still there.

Read ahead during the pauses

বিরতির সময় পরের প্রশ্ন পড়ুন

The recording gives you time before each section to read the questions. Candidates at band 5 use it to check answers they have already written. Use it to read the next set instead — knowing what you are listening for is most of the task.

  • Predict the answer type: a number, a name, a date, a noun
  • Underline the word before and after each gap
  • If you miss one, let it go — chasing it costs the next two

Spelling and plurals are marks

বানান আর বহুবচনই নম্বর

'Accommodation', 'Wednesday', 'receipt' — the words that come up most are the ones most often misspelled. A plural 's' that the speaker said and you did not write is a wrong answer, not a small slip.

  • Drill the recurring Listening spelling set until it is automatic
  • Listen for the 's' at the end of nouns
  • Write dates and numbers exactly as the format asks

Follow the correction, not the first thing said

প্রথম কথা নয়, সংশোধনটি ধরুন

Parts 3 and 4 are built on speakers changing their minds. 'We could meet on Tuesday — actually no, Thursday works better.' The answer is Thursday. Candidates who write the first thing they recognise are being caught by design.

  • Listen for actually, sorry, in fact, I mean, on second thoughts
  • Wait for the sentence to finish before writing
  • In multiple choice, all three options are usually mentioned

Accents and academic Part 4

উচ্চারণ আর পার্ট ৪

Part 4 is an uninterrupted academic monologue with no second speaker to slow it down, and the accents rotate through British, Australian, Canadian and American. At this level the work is exposure, not technique.

  • Practise with the accent you find hardest, deliberately
  • Do Part 4 dictation until you can hold a sentence in your head
  • Learn the numeral formats: 1,500 spoken as fifteen hundred
