প্রশ্নে যা চাওয়া হয়েছে তার একটি স্পষ্ট অবস্থান নিন এবং পুরো রচনায় সেটি ধরে রাখুন। ভূমিকায় অবস্থান জানান, দুটি বডি প্যারাগ্রাফে দুটি আলাদা কারণ উদাহরণসহ ব্যাখ্যা করুন, উপসংহারে অবস্থানটি আবার বলুন। দোদুল্যমান অবস্থান Task Response-এ সবচেয়ে বেশি নম্বর কাটে।
Take one clear position on the question and hold it for the whole essay. State it in the introduction, give two body paragraphs with one distinct reason each and a real example, then restate it in the conclusion. A position that drifts is what costs most candidates their Task Response mark.
These are the rules the marking actually follows. IELTS Writing Task 2 is assessed against the publicly published IELTS band descriptors, and this question type is scored on whether your answer matches what the text says — not on how much you know about the topic.
How to answer it, step by step

1 Answer the question that was asked
যে প্রশ্ন করা হয়েছে সেটিরই উত্তর দিন
'To what extent do you agree?' wants a degree, not a description of the topic. Task Response is a quarter of the mark and this is where it is lost.

2 One idea per paragraph, developed
এক প্যারাগ্রাফে একটি ধারণা, বিস্তারিত
Two well-developed reasons beat five listed ones. Claim, explain why, give an example, say why it matters.

3 Position first, not last
অবস্থান শুরুতেই, শেষে নয়
The examiner should know where you stand by the end of the introduction. Saving it for the conclusion reads as indecision.

4 Count words, do not pad
শব্দ গুনুন, অকারণে বাড়াবেন না
Under 250 words is penalised outright. Repeating the prompt to reach the count is penalised too.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
The working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. Do you agree or disagree?

The trap যেখানে সবাই ভুল করে
Writing about the topic instead of the question. A prompt about whether governments should fund public transport is not an invitation to describe traffic in Dhaka — every paragraph has to argue the position you took.
প্রশ্নের বদলে বিষয় নিয়ে লেখা — এটাই সবচেয়ে বড় ভুল। সরকারের গণপরিবহনে অর্থায়ন করা উচিত কি না, এই প্রশ্নে ঢাকার যানজটের বর্ণনা চাওয়া হয়নি। প্রতিটি প্যারাগ্রাফকে আপনার নেওয়া অবস্থানের পক্ষে যুক্তি দিতে হবে।
In one line
Do: Choose a clear position before writing and support it with two developed reasons and examples.
করুন: একটি স্পষ্ট অবস্থান নিন এবং পুরো রচনায় সেটি ধরে রাখুন। প্রতিটি body প্যারাগ্রাফে কারণ ও উদাহরণ দিন।
Do not: Discuss both sides equally without showing your own answer.
করবেন না: মাঝপথে অবস্থান বদলাবেন না বা দুই পক্ষকে সমান করে অবস্থানহীন থাকবেন না।
The golden rule for the whole Writing Task 2 paper
Underline every instruction word. Plan before writing. Use Introduction, Body 1, Body 2 and Conclusion. Keep one clear position and answer every part of the prompt.
