What is IELTS ?
The International English Language Testing System, also known as IELTS is designed to evaluate and estimate the language ability of people who want to pursue their education or career study where English is the language of communication. As per the records, it has been estimated that about 2 million test takers every year. IELTS is recognised and accepted by over 9,000 organisations including universities, employing companies, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.
WHY IELTS:
IELTS is the most unbiased and reliable English proficiency test available for the purposes of study, work and immigration. Most academic institutions in English- speaking countries, like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and an increasing number of educational institutions in the United States, accept IELTS for study. Even for migration, IELTS is required or accepted for permanent residency by the government of the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
ABOUT IELTS:
There are two versions of IELTS
Academic Module: This module is for the students who are seeking admission in a university or institution for higher education which are degree and diploma courses.
General -Training Module: This module is for the students seeking entry to a secondary school or people giving the test for immigration purposes
Gernal IELTS
The IELTS General Training test is suitable for those applying to study below degree level. This includes an English-speaking school or college. It can also be taken for work experience or other employment training
Academic IELTS
The IELTS Academic test is suitable for those wanting to study in an English-speaking environment or university (higher education). You can also take IELTS Academic for professional registration purposes.
Speaking
The speaking section assesses your use of spoken English.
Writing
Topics are of general interest. There are two tasks:Task 1 - you will be presented with a situation and asked to write a letter requesting information, or explaining the situation. The letter may be personal, semi-formal or formal in style.Task 2 - you will be asked to write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. The essay can be fairly personal in style.
Listening
You will listen to four recordings of native English speakers and then write your answers to a series of questions.
Reading
The Reading section consists of 40 questions, designed to test a wide range of reading skills. These include reading for gist, reading for main ideas, reading for detail, skimming, understanding logical argument and recognising writers' opinions, attitudes and purpose
